1920s Laverne Dress and Kimono - Hydrangea Georgette

Laverne - a vision of loveliness inspired by the frothy layered chiffon styles of the mid 1920s. Created to be adored and worn now, she brings the age of chic to life for the modern wearer.

This is a 3 piece ensemble - includes dress, underslip and kimono jacket.

Inspired by a 1920s original, this dress has the hallmark and simple, straight bodice but features ornamental pin tucks at the natural waist point for detail. The full skirt finishes in a handkerchief hem; pointed panels that float and flutter as you move, a signature detail of authentic Jazz Age fashions.

Fabric is a beautiful quality lightweight viscose georgette and features our exclusive 'Hydrangea' print which was recreated from an original. It is one of our best to date and has cascades of green leaves on a neutral based with plum coloured hydrangea flowers.  Due to the sheer nature of this beautiful fabric, we have included a mocha coloured slip which works naturally with the print.

We've partnered this beauty with a kimono style jacket in the same fabric which enhances the dress beautifully creating froth and movement. Sleeves are full, giving coverage and kimono also features a drop tie which looks equally lovely tied or worn loose.

Is the Laverne true to authentic 1920s style?
Yes — Laverne is inspired by an original 1920s design and keeps the era's hallmark drop waist, straight bodice and handkerchief hem, updated for modern wear and made in Yorkshire, England.

What is a handkerchief hem?
A handkerchief hem is a skirt cut with uneven panels (rather than a straight edge), so the fabric floats and moves rather than hanging flat. It was a popular feature of 1920s eveningwear and dance dresses.

What fabric is the Laverne dress made from?
The outer fabric is 100% viscose crepe georgette, with a 100% viscose under-slip included. Georgette is lightweight and slightly sheer, which is why a matching slip is provided.

Does the Laverne come with a slip?
Yes — because georgette is naturally sheer, a mocha-coloured slip is included and works with the Hydrangea print.

Can I wear the kimono jacket without the dress?
Yes — the kimono has a drop tie and can be worn loose or tied, and pairs well with other pieces for an easy 1920s-inspired layer.
